Shelly Beach Biathlon. DAYLIGHT SAVINGS ONLY
The Shelly Beach Biathlon is a great way to end the working week!! Join us at 6:30 p.m. each Friday night during daylight savings at the Shelly Beach boat ramp for a 750m swim and 5km run, followed by a meal and refreshing beverage (if you choose so!) at a local eatery.
This is a very informal event, no entry fee, no prizes, no fuss!
Everyone assigns themselves a handicap (starting on scratch, +1 minute, +2 minutes etc) with the aim of having everyone finish at the same time.
Can't finish the whole swim or are injured and can't complete the whole run? No worries, just turn and come back and then give your mates a hard time about how long they've taken to get back! Wetsuits/flippers/pull buoys/anything else you want to swim with are all welcome.
Please note, this session is a community event, open to everyone and not organised by the club, but there are regular groups of members and non members taking part every week.... See MoreSee Less
What Aussie Summer evenings by the beach are made for... Join us as we kick off our new weekly Thursday evening games session for the warmer, lighter Summer months!
A casual non-instructed session hosted by Blair and/or Carly with a bit of volleyball, beach cricket, touch rugby, Finska or ultimate frisbee - basically a social run around on the beach with a touch of friendly competition.
Spectators and hecklers are welcome too, as are late comers if you can't make it for 6.30PM.
Followed by beer (provided by OzSquad for the launch and by the losing team the week after!).
Bring layers until the balmy temperatures kick in and find us on the beach at the OzSquad spot.... See MoreSee Less
SUITABLE FOR BEGINNER MOUNTAIN BIKERS
A day out with a difference - cycle the famous Oaks Trail from Woodford to Glenbrook with fellow OzSquadders.
This one has been on the list for a while... Car pool to Woodford at the foot of the Blue Mountains, pick up mountain bikes, cycle to Glenbrook and hop back on the train to Woodford. The track is suitable for beginners (and I'm definitely in that category on a bike, so don't be shy!) and there's a convieniant (awesome) swimming spot at the end in the river or at Jellybean Pools.
The track is 28km, overall is downhill but does have some climbs (walking allowed) and is mostly fire trail. There is an optional single track towards the end for more experienced bikers to get their buzz.
Bike hire is $88 for the trip - we may be able to negotiate a discount depending on numbers.
IMPORTANT: Please click going ASAP if you are coming along and comment with your height for bike hire (or advise if you are bringing your own). Bikes need to be reserved before the end of August.
