Group Outdoor Exercise and Bootcamps – Manly

Each bootcamp is a high energy all over body work-out – no muscle is left unworked! We use a combination of bodyweight circuits, intervals, steps and hills to ensure your brain and body never get bored.

Our group fitness sessions on Manly Beach will improve your cardio ability and upper body, core and lower body strength as well as teaching you lots of new moves. (OzSquad is a big fan of spotty dogs, crouch tucks and dancing crabs as well as the better known crunch, squat and lunge….).  OzSquad group training sessions and bootcamps are an effective strength and conditioning work out that is perfect preparation for events like Tough Mudder or even just to build leg and core strength to improve your regular road running.

OzSquadders are a friendly, sociable bunch. Weekends usually consist of a team trip to parkrun, a trail run, or another activity of choice followed by breakfast at one of the many cafes in Manly (the search for the best Eggs Benedict on the island is almost complete, results coming soon!). OzSquad is therefore the perfect way to make friends if you are new to the area or even if you just need to add some fresh blood to your current friendship circle. All ‘extra-curricular’ OzSquad activities are co-ordinated via a members only Facebook group.

OzSquad holds a license from Manly Council for group and personal training – we are respectful of other users of the amazing public spaces Manly offers and always give way, keep the noise down and only leave sweat behind!

Mental Mondays. Let’s get ready to rumble.
The OzSquad boxing session is a full-body workout that will make you physically stronger as well as aerobically and anaerobically fitter. Cardio focussed drills use basic punching alongside more regular OzSquad moves (think burpees, push ups and jacks) as well as introducing some slightly more complex punching combo’s. Nothing to worry about though, the boxing class accommodates all levels of strength, fitness and boxing ability. Start the week with a bang.

A running biased session that makes the most of Manly’s natural beauty (and of course its steps and hills). The OzSquad Original class comprises a whole heap of bodyweight exercises as well as intervals, shuttle runs, repeats and routes which are modified to give both the beginners and the fit beans in the group an awesome work-out. You will sweat, you will puff and you will get fit.

Originally only on a Wednesday, ‘Shred Wed’ was so popular you needed one on a Tuesday too!
All the usual OzSquad ‘fun’ with a good measure of CrossFit style work-outs and competition thrown in. The perfect combo. Shred includes cardio intervals as well as strength and conditioning circuits for time, often in an AMRAP format (that’s ‘as many rounds as possible’ in non-CrossFit speak) – you against the clock. Your results for each short, sharp work-out will be recorded so you know what you are aiming to beat the next time the work-out crops up a couple of months later.

Whilst there are no other ‘formal’ OzSquad sessions at the weekend, there is always some kind of other group OzSquad activity going on – whether it is a team trip to Curl Curl parkrun, a trail run, a game of beach volleyball or a recovery breakfast after the night before, OzSquadders tend to get together most weekends in some form or other. Extra-curricular goings on are co-ordinated via a members only Facebook group. Get involved! OzSquad is Manly’s most social bootcamp after all.

Billy teaches this dynamic flowing class evolved from more traditional yoga teachings. Classes are designed to challenge and inspire you both mentally and physically. You’ll get a strength work out and burn fat whilst also developing stronger muscles and more flexibility – this class complements your other OzSquads well but is by no means an easy option. The room is pleasantly warmed to help detox the body and challenge the mind. BYO mat, towel and water.

  • The Strength Social – North Steyne, Manly

    Ease yourself into the week with an hour of weight training – it’s a gym session without the walls and the egos!

    The Strength Social is a self-led resistance training strength session. We set the work-out and leave you to tackle it at your own pace whilst gossiping discussing world affairs with the rest of the crew.  A chance to build your strength without anyone yelling in your ear!  Record your weights and reps and track your improvement over time – not just for the boys, girls need strength training too!

  • OzSquad Indoor Yoga – Manly Community Centre, 12 Wentworth St

    RunSquad is suitable for all levels (the fast bods will just be given more to do!) and allows those who have completed the Learn to Run course with OzSquad to continue to improve their running in a group environment. The sessions focus on improving running speed and cardio fitness and introduce our best bag of bootcamp tricks to build core and leg strength too.  In line with the overall OzSquad training style, the sessions will be different each week but also include half a dozen standard work-outs to track improvement.
